Sarena thought she saw his face form into a smile, the first one she had seen in the past ten minutes she had been sitting with him. Maybe she could get him to open up a bit more; maybe deep down he was really senstitive.
"So, tell me about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time?" she said, scanning the room as she waited for an answer. She saw a group of her friends a couple feet away, and she hoped they wouldn't notice her. She wanted to spend some time alone with Jude, getting to know him a bit by herself.

It was probably a good thing if her friends didn't immediately come there way. He wouldn't have been near as open to this particular sort of conversation. But then, normally it would have been rare he let it happen anyway. Jude was oddly comfortable around her however, and would probably even attempt to further the talk between them.
"I like art, and music..." Though no one knew he had a talent for either. That was a well kept secret, and one he guarded possessively. "I like to read...causing trouble...I like piercings..." Yes, he had his fair share of them, even if he had to keep them well hidden. School, and all that. His smirk returned, " I like dark things." Jude left that up to her imagination. It was rather broad, and could mean quite a few things.
"Quidditch...fun..." Of course, fun was a pretty broad spectrum. And he'd been rather vague about it. But he was a New Orleans native. Fun was something he knew how to do, when he got the chance. Not that anything like that tended to happen around here. Especially since he kept to himself. "What about you?"

She smirked when she heard that he liked dark things. It was probably a known fact, but she was into dark magic herself. She had learned all of the unforgivable forces by the age of fifteen, and by now had them mastered.
"Shopping, partying, hooking up, hot guys, dancing, quittitch, music, my job is pretty cool, I love spending time with my friends, potions, and trasnfiguration." she listed these things in one breathe, getting overexcited at the fact that they had some things in common.
"I really like dark magic." she whispered, hoping only he could hear. She had been working for two years now at a shop known for dark items in Starborough, as a curse identifier. She was very good at it.

He listened to her as she spoke, long agile fingers cradling his jaw as he gave her his attention. The food on his plate not holding as much interest at the moment. She was a curious girl, and Jude wasn't often this intrigued. Not that he'd admit that out loud. "I have a good job to...just got hired for it..." That particularly haphazard comment was given without interrupting what she was saying at the moment.
However her mention of dark magic visibly made interest flicker over his gaze. Now, a more apparent smile flickered over his features; slow and deliberate, dark in nature. Filled with countless secrets, and countless mysteries. One that said he knew the power of dark magic intimately. He did of course. Both as a test subject for various spells, and...as a caster. The unforgiveables were some of the first spells he'd mastered.
"I really like dark magic to." He whispered back, "Quite a bit.....Do you have a favorite spell?" Now, he was leaning a bit closer, so they heard each other better.

Sarena didn't budge as he moved closer, she wanted their conversation just to be between the two of them. Lingering professors and goody two shoes absolutely could not hear their conversation, for the fear of suspension or expulsion. Schooling was one thing that was very important to Sarena, even if she did like to party every once in a while.
"The crutiatus curse." she said with a smirk, feeling that wave of evil inside her coming to the surface. "It helps me get what I want faster and easier." Which was true. She liked getting her way, and she would not let anything stop her from getting it.

"And it makes your target fear you longer than the imperius might..." He replied, his own smirk forming; becoming wicked. "Fear can be a good motivator." Jude should know that better than anyone. His eyes were intent upon her, golden gaze darker than before. As if the speak of the dark magic had urged something to the surface, though that something wasn't anything...he'd ever share with another. Family business, and all that.
There was one final curse of course they hadn't spoke of. The Avada Kedavra. And he knew that one to; had learned it the old fashioned way...by casting it. Starting on animals-his father had made him use his first familar. That was why his cat, Bedlam, stayed here at the school. And then he'd moved up to bigger targets. But that wasn't ever something to speak of here, even as the talked of dark magic.
Some secrets were meant to be kept. "Sectumsempra is an interesting one." Lots of blood involved with that curse. But then its etymology did mean 'cut' and 'always'. The effect, assuring the target appeared to have been 'slashed by a sword'.

"Exactly" she said, as she heard him talk about the effects of fear that had to do with the crutiatus curse. She had learned the same things, the thrill of using such a powerful curse one someone.
"What about Avada Kedavra? Ever used it?" she asked, shifting her eyes down towards the floor. She had only used it once, on an animal, and was ashamed of herself for feeling bad about it afterwards.

"Yes...I have." He replied shifting his amber gaze back to her for a moment, intent and debating. Finally he came to the conclusion she'd used it at least once or twice and probably hadn't been happy about it at the time. "I learned it the hard way when I was young." Though he loved dark magic, it'd tramatized him-a young child, to cast it upon the dog his mother had gotten him. "And I've cast it other times since."
And while he said it casually, it wasn't a casual statement. There was grim intent behind it, and knowledge of what it felt like to snuff out a life. Casting the spell period was bad, but casting it on people? That was as good as a death sentence in and of itself. But she'd asked, and something told him she wouldn't mention it to anyone else. It was a rare mediocrum of trust he offered, by giving up that bit of information. And why he gave it, he wasn't all to certain. But that was neither here nor there.

The conversation taking more of an intense subject, Sarena wasn't sure if she was ready for such a discussion for somebody she barely knew. Moving on, she thought of different things they could talk about; anything to change the subject of the avada kedavra curse, even though she had brought it up. But she had regretted it, not feeling comfortable about talking about her past experiences with it.
"So, are there any girls who have your eye?" she asked, on a whim, thinking it could steer the conversation in an interesting direction.

She'd asked the question, and thus he let her go on as she pleased. It wasn't as he'd been intent on speaking of the subject. He was a very private individual, and thus there were some places he most definately wouldn't go. Including about his own past experiences and why he'd had to learn it in the first place. Because that would get into his father, and his home life. No, he wasn't going there, and he was perfectly content to change subjects.
"No." He answered, with a shrugg. "I don't pay much attention to people most of the time..." Most girls, in all honesty, got on his nerves. Much like people in general did. However, Rena was very quickly becoming an exception to the rule. There personalities didn't seem to clash as much, but he wouldn't admit that out loud. Nor would he admit that it was kind of nice.
"What about you? Do you have a boy your interested in?" Again, he returned the question. [

"There is this one guy..." she said, as she smiled, thinking about her best guy friend in the whole world, Aiden. She didn't know if Jude would be interested enough to ask her about him, but she sure hoped he would. Conversation flowed easily and compliments poured out of her mouth when she started talking about Aiden, though she normally wasn't the gushy type.
Would Jude think she had meant him? She hoped not; she would feel bad if he did. Not that he was interested in her, right? He said he was interesting in nobody. She pondered this as she waited for a response, content about how well their personalities meshed.

No, he hadn't thought she meant him. In his mind, that kind of thing took time. You couldn't just meet someone and instantly have this gigantic crush on them. That was stupid, and Sarena didn't seem like the stupid type. No, she was far to intelligent for that. "Who is it?" He asked, surprising even himself because he wasn't really the type to care.
In truth, like having had no friends, he'd never had a crush on anyone either. That was just the sort of person he was. He kept himself distant because it was safe to do so, and because no one had proven enough of themselves to him to actually take much of an interest. The only one he'd tolerated talking to was Sarena, and he'd never admit out loud that he was enjoying it.
It should have showed anyway because he made an attempt to not be so antisocial by speaking in general. Even if he was currently ignoring anyone else that looked his way.

"His name is Aiden Stone. Since you seem to not really pay attention to people, I'm not sure you know him." she worded this in a friendly way, not meaning for her statement to be the least bit rude. "He's in our house and year, you probably share a dormitory. Anyway, he's been my best friend since we were five, and I really really really like him." she said, feeling the smile on her face.
"You know, I could help you find a girlfriend, if you want. It would be fun."

"I've seen him around..." He commented, though that didn't mean he knew the boy. Much like he hadn't known Rena until now, despite having been in the same house as her since first year. "If he's your best friend, you should tell him how you feel..." Because it seemed kind of silly not to. Jude believed that being anyone's best friend took trust, and if you trusted them that much...being more than friends would be a cinch.
And then, she was mentioning him and girls. Dark brows arched up, and his head tilted. "There's not anyone I trust enough to be my girlfriend..." He shrugged, his statement more than a bit honest. "I've not had a best friend since I was five that I know won't betray me the first chance they got..." It was horribly cynical sounding, and jaded to the extreme.
"But it could be an interesting project. Go ahead, you might just surprise me Sarena.." And then he gave her a smile. Albeit very small and minute, but it was there none the less.

"You know, you needa lighten up a little. Were going to be throwing a killer party in the common room soon, and I'll introduce you to some people." It was odd to think that she had to introduce him to people in his own house, but it would be fun none the less. Maybe Sky or Viv would be interested? Hmmm. She pondered this for a few minutes.
She saw him smile for the first time during that conversation. It was pleasant, a handsome smile. "Was that a real smile? My goodness, you should do that more often. Girls would be all over you."
