Finally, there was an amused little twitch of his expression, that softened the naturally moody light in his gaze. "Alright...I'd normally avoid it, but I'll come..." He shrugged, absently wondering just how it'd turn out. It was odd to have gone through nearly seven years of school and not have really gotten to know his own house mates. Or at least, he was sure, odd from other points of view. To Jude it was normal.
Then, he was caught off guard by her comment of his smile. Seeming honestly baffled, his fingers lifted to touch his mout to find it indeed curled into a smile. It was an odd expression, and unfamilar. The naturally broody teenager tried to tug it back into its normal apathetic expression, in what was no doubt a quite humerous attempt only to fail. Badly, because the smile only turned a bit lopsided and made it rather on the endearing side.
"I don't think its a smile..." He regarded her seriously or as seriously as he could with traces of dry humor in his voice, "I think someone cursed me..." Because that was logical. He didn't want anyone all over him, after all. Still, it only served to show that he liked Sarena, even if he was making a valiant attempt to hide his current all to open expression from them.

"That's right, you WILL come to the party." she said, thinking about who Jude could possibly befriend or flirt with. Sky could possibly be interested, but she also had a thing with JC going on. Sarena hadn't actually talked to Sky in a while, which was weird. She was used to spending most of her free time with the blonde.
She laughed openly as Jude attempted to stop smiling, his face turning quite comical as he did so. He was being very funny without even attempting. It was cool how she had just met him, and how well their personalities seemed to go well together.
"That was the funniest thing I've seen in a while." she said, short of breath due to her laughter. "Why are you so hesitant to smile?"

Of course, he actually wasn't trying to be funny which probably made it seem even more so. Generally, he was quiet and mistaken for being more than a bit serious. It wasn't quite the case; he just didn't open up to others naturally. Still, her laughter was catching, and somehow he knew had it been another he very likely would have hexed them.
"Smiles are an open expression." He answered with a little twitch of his mouth. It all came back to his issues with trust. And the fact that when you smiled it tended to want to make people get close to you. It was just another of his hang ups, he may or may not get over. "I've never really smiled much anyway." A long finger shifted to poke experimentally at the corner of his mouth, "Its unfamilar..."
But maybe not a bad unfamilar. Even if he wasn't keen on drawing everyone to him, it was kind of nice to have company.

"You know, I just don't understand you. Why are you so antisocial and grumpy?" she said, not in a mean way, but generally curious. Perhaps he had a bad childhood, or had made some bad decisions? She would like to know, if she was going to befriend him trust was a big thing, and she would like to be able to know that all of her friends trust her.
"I mean, you don't HAVE to tell me, but it would be nice if you did. If were going to be friends I need to know these things." she said, with a chuckle, but she was rather serious.

Antisocial and grumpy? That described him so well, it made another smile slide over his features, even with the context of the question. It contained a fair amount of humor in it, to show perhaps he was inwardly laughing at himself and how dead on she'd hit it. However, her calling him friend out loud startled him and it showed plainly. Sure, it'd been heading that way. He'd even admitted to himself that perhaps he'd found the first person he could count as a friend. But it was still a rather large shock to have it heard out loud.
Trust was important to friendships. He knew this, had seen it. And for Jude, no one had ever earned that trust. It wasn't just something he handed out willy nilly. No, he was to suspicious of everyone and there hidden intentions. Odd, that wasn't even a thought here. Because even after only really knowing Rena for a short time, he didn't think it in her to betray her friends.
After a moment of debate, and a glance around them as if he wasn't sure he wanted to get into this here, he drug out his wand. The bloodwood and ebony creation humming with familar comfort in his hand. A quick spell, done wordlessly, to assure that they wouldn't be heard even here, and then he was putting it away once more. Only then did his golden gaze return to Rena, and while his smile still lingered, it was thin and faint.
"I'll tell you." He told her, before continueing on. "My father has assured I don't trust. I haven't grown up loved or in a safe environment. He's a cruel individual, who thinks I'm inadequete and he's always assured that I know that." His head cocked to the side, "You wanna know how I learned just what it takes to cast a proper crucio? It was a punishment for getting scared during a storm when I was five. Sinclairs cause fear, but they aren't' afraid of anything."
Jude sat back a bit and tugged his hand through his hair, "He never fails to remind me I'm not good enough to warrant being treated like a real son, just because of who my mother was..." But his mother hadn't been muggle. She'd been a high born Itallian witch, whose family had quite a bit of pull. That just hadn't been good enough, in the eyes of someone like his father. His lip curled up, into a very effective sneer. Enough, to show what a load of crap he thought that was. No, he didn't think the abuse was his fault. It was his father's. "If my own father can betray me like that, why shouldn't I expect it of everyone else?" Now, he glanced at her questioningly.
That was the crux of his problem. Why, he chose to stay away from others. If he was alone, he didn't risk being stabbed in the back by someone he came to care about. Jude hadn't gone into detail with all that had happened, and probably wouldn't. But he'd told Sarena more than he'd ever told anyone else.

Sarena chuckled yet again as she saw Jude's face form another smile-thing; obviously she had described him to himself so well he found it humorous. Rena was very good at deciphering people; she could tell when people were lying, who was fake, who was loyal. She had studied legimency for a bit, but it was very very advanced magic; too advanced for her, which she wasn't going to admit easily.
But suddenly the atmosphere became more intense as he cast a charm around them, silencing out all the noise from the people eating in the cafeteria, and she knew that meant people could no longer hear them as well. She heard him talk about his fathers ways; his abuse, forms of torture, his coldness, his want for fear. Jude never being good enough. Rena knew the feeling of not being good enough; she was constantly compared to Ariella. However, she at least knew her parents loved her. No wonder jude was the way he was. She put a comforting hand on his upper arm.
"If my own father can betray me like that, why shouldn't I expect it of everyone else?" he glanced up at her.
"Jude, you can't let your father make you so closed off. I know it sounds hard, but you don't have to dwell on the past. Your seventeen; you can live on your own now. Your better than your father. You deserve to be happy."

It'd been difficult to talk about. Especially considering that he hadn't ever spoken of it to others before. It just...wasn't something he talked about. Some how though, when she'd gotten him to talking about it, he hadn't been able to stop. And while he'd intended on giving her a basic idea of things, he hadn't meant to say as much as he had. So even that left him surprised.
Her words, tugged a more natural smile on his features, "I can't not go back to the family house. I can't legally take my sister from him, but if I'm there, she won't be hurt..." And that was the crux of it. As long as Dori was under age, he'd keep going back. Jude loved his sister, and had promised his mother that he'd keep her safe. He'd have even brought her to school with him, had be been able to. Worry pitted in his stomach, before he turned his gaze back to Rena.
"Your right, I do want to be happy..." He shrugged, "I have to be making some progress. I've made a friend, and I trust you..." Jude surprised himself by admitting that one, because...he did trust her. Enough to smile and relax a little. Enough to poke fun at himself and his own moody nature. "Because I trust you, I'll tell you something else about me..."
Now he smiled, a real earnest smile that she'd more than earned. "Even though my family has pureblood status, even though I do...I'm not really pure blood; I'm half-blood." That was a big risky thing to admit. But she'd wanted him to trust her, and so...he was.

Sarena was very flattered that he had finally opened up and told her all this; she was now starting to understand him better. He had a tough life, and Sarena was willing to help him in any way she could. She knew it was a big thing for him to open up to her like this; it must mean he was beginning to trust her.
And then he said it, he admitted his trust for her, which made her smile, despite the saddening situation. It wasn't innapropriate though; she had done it at the right time.
"Even though my family has pureblood status, even though I do...I'm not really pure blood; I'm half-blood."
Rena resisted not to cringe; she didn't exactly like people of lesser blood status than pure. However, Jude could be an exception. She liked him, and he needed help. He needed a friend; therefor, Sarena would be there for him.
"That's okay. You don't have to be ashamed."

That drug a faint chuckle from him; the sound foreign and slightly husky from disuse. Showing just how rarely he actually laughed or smiled. "I don't think you understand Rena...I don't have muggle blood in me." His nose scrunched up faintly, "My mother was a highborn witch from Italy..." Was, being a past tense, because she had passed away. At his father's hand.
"My father...is vampire...a very old one..." Now, he watched her closely, to see her reaction. Vampires were on the list of dark, sentient creatures. And like werewolves, they could use magic. Perhaps with a greater ease than wizards and witches could, though they tended to have a greater vulnerability to certain spells-like fire spells, or light spells. Made vampires couldn't blend in as easy. They were pale and guant, and painfully obvious. But the rarer born vampires could pass for wizards and witches with ease. And the child of a witch and a made vampire? That was even more so.
"I wanted you to know, because your...a friend." There, he'd said it to. It even made him smile. However, Jude was a unique case, and if she did something to betray him, he'd very likely draw back into himself. That was the risk, but there was risk to everything in life. And his mind hadn't even considered that she might turn on him. Because he didn't think she would.

"Vampire?" she said. Actually, she thought it was pretty cool. If his dad weren't such an ass, Rena would probably want to meet him. She had a strong interest in vampires, and wanted to know more about them. She refrained herself from telling him this though; she didn't want to upset him in any way. She was happy he was trusting her with this informationa and didn't want to blow it.
"So you...your...half vampire?"

"Yeah...." He was actually pretty relieved she was taking it so well. Especially considering that not everyone would. Some would react much like they often did to werewolves and there kindred. Even those witches and wizards who enjoyed the darkness of life. "With fangs and all..." Jude had to chuckle faintly, "Its not to bad...I'd say its only a bit differant from being a pureblooded witch or wizard but I don't know how that feels so..." He shrugged. His draw to blood and anemia was probably the worst thing he had to deal with health wise. Because he didn't get sick or anything like that, usually.
"Not all vampires are like my father...and some of the older family members..." Always the formal reference with the man. Never dad, because that was to...affectionate. "My uncle and his family you'd probably like." The man had been there to heal Jude's wounds at the worst of times. But because his father was the current family head, there just wasn't much to be done.

"I'm not trying to offend you or anything, but I think being a vampire would be really cool. I mean, maybe not the blood thing, but vampires are so...cool. And mysterious." she hoped this wouldn't offend him; she was just so fascinated.
"We could have a party with your Uncle. You should invite him out to dinner one night, and I could just so happen to bump into you." she chuckled, but was somewhat serious. How cool would it be to eat dinner with a family of vampires?
Then a though occured to her. She leaned in really close to Jude. "Can...I...see them? Your fangs I mean." she whispered it, even though she knew people couldnt hear her.

He shrugged, "I'm not offended....I was more worried about scaring you off-I kind of like having a friend...." Yeah, that had been a small insecurity. Not that he'd admit to it or anything. At least not to anyone else, in any case. As had been proven this morning, he was rather comfortable talking to Sarena about personal matters and hadn't even considered the short amount of time they'd known one another personally.
"You wouldn't have to bump into me..." He let his lips curve into a small smile. "I'd invite you along..." Jude shrugged languidly, thinking that it might be interesting. Honestly, he thought of his uncle Theodore as more of a father than his own. But he'd never say it out loud, where his father could catch word of it. "I'll set it up if you want." Because she honestly seemed curious about having dinner with them.
Her conspiratorial whisper caught him off guard, especially since no one could hear them. But then he smiled, "Yeah...sure..." he told her before tilt his head enough that curious eyes couldn't see. Jude pealed one side of his mouth back until his eye teeth on that side were visible. At first glance, they were normal teeth....but then the canines lengthened and distended until they were needle sharp fangs. Gleaming within his mouth like miniature ivory daggers. His eyes in that moment, a far more intense, inhuman gold.
After a moment, he let his mouth fall back, and once more the fangs were hidden. His eyes, normal once again as if it'd never happened in the first place.

"That would be awesome." she said, in reference to him saying that he could set it up for them to go out to dinner with his family. She quite enjoyed his company and was honored that he had shared so much information with her in the first half hour of knowing her. But it was a good thing; Sarena was a very good friend. Though many people probably thought she was a bitch, she really wasn't, unless she didn't like you.
Sarena watched curiously as what seemed like normal teeth extended into sharp fangs. She watched in aw, jealous of how cool they seemed. Imagine having fangs? That strongly intruiged the brunette. "That's so cool. I wish I had fangs."

"Did you have a day in mind for it?" He asked as he made a note to send an owl, or firecall his Uncle the moment he had time. Honestly, he hadn't expected to open up this much or share all of this with her, but he didn't regret it. Jude would take alot of time to open up more to others, however, he'd made a great leeway with Sarenal. It really was impossible to know the effort it took to get this far.
He ran his tongue absently against his now dull eye teeth; the ring piercing it scraping aganst the pale enamel before he offered her another smile. And though it was still small; it was real. "They can be annoying sometimes...but the rest of the time I barely notice I have them..." Times, when he could smell blood they ached. Or when his temper peaked, or when he ran a risk of high emotions.
